keep in mind i'm new to corvettes and have a million questions.i just got a 73 w/ttop,350,4speed that looks to be 90% original.my headlights go on but they don't open.is there some sequence of things i can check to get them to work.the previous owner said they worked but were slow.when i brought the car home they didn't work so i personally never seen them work.any and all help would be great.thank you all
C3 headlights open and close by vacuum. If yours are not functioning, the problem is vacuum, not electrical. Do a search. There are several vacuum system troubleshooting threads.
If you intend to work on the 73 yourself, my advice would be to purchase the 73 assembly instruction manual (AIM) and the GN chassis service manual. Both of these references will come in handy.
If you do not have an owner's manual with your car, order a reproduction manual when you order the AIM and service manual. There is valuable information in the owner's manual.
Hi, welcome to the forum!
My '73 was just like yours; slow or NO GO. I did lots of searching/reading on the forum and then I purchased a vacuum hose kit from Dr. Rebuild. The instructions tell you how to test all the actuators and valves. I ended up replacing pretty much the entire headlight vacuum system. You can also buy an electric actuating system that eliminates all the crappy vacuum parts.
