Cheap A$$ Starter!
Hey Guys,
Had a bad experience with a cheap mini starter for my sb.It was a staggered bolt pattern high torque mini starter for 56.00 .I should have known better when I saw the price.Installed good no problems for 3 months then it started to just click at times getting worse and worse until it took a dozen tries before it would turn over.So I check the battery,cables,ignition switch thinking geez gotta be something besides the starter its new right! WRONG,save yourself the trouble buy a good GM starter in the first place and save some time and money.No more cheap parts for sure.Damn, getting good parts is a crap shoot for sure....

No brand name, was off ebay from a vendor advertised as high torque mini starter 56.00.Bolted up good no shims needed.Not worth my shipping costs from Hawaii to send it back.Got a new GM starter 12610302 and all has been good for several months car starts right up! Ended up spending more time and $$ trying to go cheap!! Alohas

I was concerned that the one you had problems was the same one I just bought for a friend's 57 Chevy I am working on. The price is different so I hope the quality is a little better. Here is the link to the one I bought.

Same One!
Looks exactly the same but different vendor.It worked great at first,if it just starts to click then suspect the starter right away.I wasted my time troubleshooting everything else when it was the starter all along.Alohas

Embarrassed to admit this but I bought the same one from the same e-bay dude.. Worked fine for about a month but one day the bendix blew off the nose of the housing.. made a hell of a noise..stranded me 35 miles from home..
