Can someone tell me what side the dip stick is on an 81 corvette? I think I took mine out of the passengers side, but it was 4 years ago and I can't remember. Thanks.
According to the 7th Edition of the Chevrolet Power Manual, "A pre-1980 oil pan has a driver's side dipstick; Later pans have a passenger's side dipstick. The pan must match the block."

Didn't gbvette62 send you a pic of his 81 on the passenger side , I could be wrong ?
Thanks guys, and yes Roger, I did get a picture but could not really tell what side it was. But, I have done some checking and here is what I found in case it will help anyone.
My new 350/300Hp crate motor is drilled on BOTH sides for a dip stick. The hole on the drivers side is 7/16" and the hole on the passengers side is 3/8". If you look down on the drivers side from the top of the motoe you will see the dip stick hole. On the passengers side you need to have the exhaust manifold and starter off the car to see the hole. Also, on the passengers side the hole is MUCH lower then the drivers side. My problem was that I had the exhaust and starter in place and could not see the hole.
