my motor seems to work (i tested it with a multimeter and got resistance). I thought it could be the relay because the switch works but does it have two relays (one for each window) and how do i test it?
Its hot and i like driving with the windows down...... please help?
Jesse
If your 74 is the same as my 77 then there is only one power window relay which sits in the center console. Some basic things to check the connector which goes into the motor one wire is for window up and the other wire is for window down. and the motor gets its ground thru the door frame. With your voltmeter check for voltage to one side of the connector using the door frame as your ground. You will have volts to either side of the connector depending on switch position with the ignition switch on.
i check the switch and its fine it makes the passenger window go up and down... i think it might be the relay, ill check it but how does 4 wires control up and down for two windows...
orange at relay----hot 24-7
pink/black---------hot when ign is on--this wire tics the relay and connects the orange to the red/white
red/white---------hot to both switches but only hot when ign is on
black ------------grounds relay
