hi im thinking about taking my red 80 corvette to get the windows tinted, i live in va so legal is 50% front windows and 35% rear window, im thinking about going 35%-30% all around. i want it to be fairly dark for privacy but not to much that ill be asking to get pulled over. if anyone has any pics or opinions that would be great. thanks, mark

I've found 35% sides with 20% rear to have worked nicely in a number of vehicles (including my DD) over the years, and plan on going with just that in my '78. IIRC 35% is the limit here in TN, but I was never pulled over when I once tried 20% sides with 8% rear, tho that proved just too dark for safe nighttime driving IMHO. In any event, make sure you choose a shop that really knows what they're doing before you let them attempt that large, complex rear glass. I'm lucky enough to live fairly close to an honest-to-goodness pro.

My current DD w/rear window defrost has been tinted for over a decade without issue, so I'd say yes (assuming quality film is used).
FYI (from the BTDT school of learning), the installer must also take care not to cut the defroster, where applicable, and he should take great care to aviod scorching something should he need extra lighting in the car while doing the work. The very first car I ever had done (back in the '80's) was damaged due to lack of care on both of these counts. Additional reasons to make sure you hire a real pro.
search "window tint" at mamotorworks.com. I have this in the back of my 79 and it slipped right it. not that dark but it cuts down on headlights that are behind me. took 10 minutes to install.
can the rear window be tinted and expected to last if one has the rear window defogger?
FWIW - the rear window on my '86 has been tinted for 23 years and has held up great and still looks like the day they put it on and does not effect the rear defogger's function.
