Default Body lifted! Almost a big problem!

Well I finally lifted my 73 off her frame this morning. I used a set of hold down straps and had a slight problem since I didn't think about having to stop them from slipping on the lifting hook.

But the dolly worked great, Lined up the two rear (#3) mounts and she settled right into place (with an assist from my neighbors Robert & Emily).

Thanks again to Kaiserbud for the dwgs for the dolly, even with me making the measurements it came out "SPOT ON"!

Here are a few other pics of the lift: http://s286.photobucket.com/albums/l...20Restoration/

PS: the big wheels worked great in the grass, (Harbor Freight specials!)

Definitely glad to have it done, It has been on hold since the spring waiting for enough time to build the dolly.

Now I get the fun of stripping the frame down. Break out the impact guns and degreaser!

Looks like you almost lost it. I"ll bet you had some body parts puckering for a moment or two!

Nice recovery though

Your setup looks good, but I have to agree with "oldsarge" you should support the front clip.

Thanks, I have the strap on it and am cutting two 4x4's to go under the clip. You might be able to see the bolt holes in the dolly where I had already staged them.

Pucker may have been an understatement!

I just got the braces cut to length and installed under the front clip!

A little of topic, but I noticed that your radiator support is already primed, mine is in good shape but I still want to have it blasted and repainted. Should I wait and do it after the body is back on? I don't think it would be a good idea to take it off while the front clip is hanging. there doesn't appear to be much other support in the area that could be braced up to take the load if I removed it.

The rad support in my picture was the original unit that was rusted out. I left it in there until the new piece arrived and then changed it before the body went back on the frame.

Glad you found it useful... I updated the links for the PDF's - now they work. Kaiserbud's Body Dolly Instructions

PS - Definitely use the front support noted in Area A - it is critical to support the very fragile front end.
