Default Hood Removal

I am planning on removing my hood this weekend and was wondering if that is something I can accomplish by myself or will I need an extra set of hands? Basically how much does it weigh and how cumbersome will it be?

Any advice or tips would be appreaciated.

Get the extra help, definitely. You'd hate to damage it. Its not heavy (maybe 35 pounds?) but very awkward.

Advice: Mark the exact locations of the hood bolts. This way when you put it back, you'll have the alignment right.

Not sure what you mean by this, isnt there only one location for them to go back in, or isnt it that obvious?

There is a small amount of play in the hinges to allow for hood adjustment. Good advice to index them before you remove the hood.

You can remove the hood with the hinges if you pull the fender skirt bolts. You can remove the hood without the hinges if you remove the hinge bolts on the hood.

Either way, two pair of hands works best.

The holes are slotted for adjustment. If your hood is correctly aligned now, mark it with tape or a marker so you find the same spot when you put it back on.

If not, you"ll be making the adjustments later. Not a big deal, but it takes some time.

Good luck

Did mine a couple of weeks ago. Get someone to help.

I used some blue painters tape and covered the edge of the hood and also lined the edge of the fender. Also, laid out blankets and towels over the fenders and front end. Maybe overkill but if you slip you could chip the paint.

Well we got the hood off and back on. My daughter was home today, she graduated from college this spring and no job yet so she is staying with us. She helped me get the hood off and back on again and help with the liner install and even brought me a nice refreshing beverage! We had a good day together and here are the results..

I know some of you don't like the graphic and especially with the circle but I really like it and that's all that matters. The picture does not do it justice, it looks better in real life.

You like it! Who cares what anyone else thinks. Great to spend some quality time with your daughter. Did she ask to drive it?

the only reason I don't like the graphic is it's the wrong logo for a C3, but like you said, you're the only one who needs to like it, and I think it's awesome you spending quality time with your daughter.
