Lost key - no duplicate
Today finally got around to removing one of the door locks. Not to difficult, just remove the door panel, reach through with a looong needle nose pliers and slip the spring keeper off the inside of the door lock. Back to the locksmith who again disassembled that lock and made an ignition key that works.
Now it got a little more difficult. Placing the lock back into the door so that the guides fit the slots properly while also getting the metal arm/
tab onto the rod that operates the lock. Many tries and finally succeeded. Tip: if you do this, using the rod on the inside of the door, place the locking mechanism exactly half way between lock and unlock. Much easier to get the parts mated. Then, with a little more difficulty I got the spring keeper back in place on the inside of the door lock.
If there is an easier way ('69 coupe) let me know.
Now I will make one more trip back to the locksmith who assured me he could pick the lock on the aftermarket locking gas cap and make yet another key.
(Wife says I will now find the lost keys)
