Engine Suffix Guru Needed
Hello, I recently checked out the block stamp on my 81. I believe this is the original motor because the VIN matches the engine stamp. However the suffix stamp is DDZ which from the information I have indicates that this engine was installed in a Vette with a manual trans. My car has a auto trans in it and I believe it came from the factory this way. The thing is when I bought u-joints for the car I had to buy u-joints designated for a car with a manual trans. How likely is it that this car originally came with a 4-speed and a PO converted it to a auto, or did this happen sometimes at the build plant? Any info or opinions would be helpful. Thanks Tim
