I am currently converting to R134, replacing Compressor, dryer, & orafice. Can anyone tell me why I am having problems putting the new one in. It looks exaxtly the same size of the one I took out which goes in easy. However, placing the new one in gets stuck about half way down.
Thanks for any assistance.

Try putting a little compressor oil on it to help it slide in.
ARRRRRRR!!!! Ok, so I lubed the tube with the compressor oil, and rented the tool from Auto Zone. I verified I was putting it in the correct direction (really have to be lame...it has the arrow pointed to the direction), and tried to use the tool. I also verified how the old one goes in which was very smooth.
I still could not get the new orafice in. And actual, one of the tips on the top of the orafice broke off when I was pushing down. Why is the old one going in with NO PROBLEM but the new one is getting stuck. It almost appears that it is too big around.
Any ideas? I was thinking about trying to buy another one.

Measure it with a micrometer. Auto Zone should be able to do this for you.
When I put a new blue orifice tube in mine the tube wouldn't fit over it.
I had to file down the edges on the top of it.
If you get another one I'd recommend a blue one they work good with r134a.
My vent temperatures run at 40 degrees sometimes even lower.
Mail it to a specialty shop and have them re-do it and calibrate it for 134. I think both Classic Air and Vintage Air have re-building services. I was planning on sending my entire evaporator assembly to them (including the POA valve, etc) and have them restore. Right now I'm planning on not using my factory AC, but rather go to an aftermarket under the passenger's dash unit.

your are right...it has not been worth the grief. I even went and purchased another orafice(white) for the yr, make, model, and still did not fit. The diameter of the round part of the orafice is too big. Don't quite understand why I can't find one that would fit. Or the reason why the parts I am getting do not fit.
