I had my 74 soda blasted. A guy game to my house and blasted it right in my driveway. Just swept up what was still on the drive way and hosed off. Did not hurt the glass or chrome. $600. 4hrs.

I was considering doing the very same thing. Just afraid of how much mess it would make. Wife and I removed a lot of the top layers with the razor blade method but not all of it.
I used the razor blade to get the top coat off, and then citrus-strip to remove the primer. Overall it worked really well. I used two applications of the citrus-strip, giving each application about an hour to work. For the first coat I scraped the paint off using a plastic putty knife. For the second coat I used a stiff bristled brush to scrub the surface which worked really good. The results were excellent and there were no noxious fumes to deal with. I would definitely recommend this method. Be wary of most chemical strippers out there as they aren't compatible with fiberglass.

I bookmarked your website a long time ago as it was so detailed in everything. I go back to it occasionally to compare how you did things and how they turned out.
The only problem i have with stripping is I don't really plan on painting this car for a while. I've got a lot of work to do on it still but the paint is pretty crappy. Especially with the new lights I put in that are bare aluminum. So i can either leave it for a while and have it look somewhat crappy or start stripping it slowly and leave it at that stage for a while. I'm thinking next summer has a slim chance of me painting it...
Keep it un-stripped and crappy paint job for a while till next summer or strip it in my spare time and leave it at that till summer? I will be driving this thing some so....
