These are the appliance very similar. I picked em up CHEAP so im gonna try and figure out more when I actually take delivery. 15x8 and mint is all I know
unknown...Wheels were purchased site unseen over the internet and I didn't want to get the guy to start looking for too much info as they were cheaper then the shipping to get them here. I did just receive an email that they are in fact Appliance and they are 15x8.5 I'm very excited to get these polished...
The wheel in the ad is the Appliance "Wire Mag". The wheels in the original post are different, they have similated bolts around the rim to look like a 2 or 3 peice wheel. I've never seen Wire Mags done like that. I don't think those were made by Appliance. I think Appliance went out of business in the 70's and bolted together multi peice wheels (such as Jongbloeds) didn't come out till a little later.
The Wire Mag was one of the few original design wheels that Appliance made. Most of their wheels were knock offs of other company's wheels, such as Cragar S/Ss, American Torq Thrusts and Ansen Sprints.
Appliance wheels were made in Japan and the Wire Mag was very popular on Datsun 240Z & 260Zs. I don't recall if they were factory OEM or just dealer installed, but they were a Datsun accessory and were on many Z cars back in the day.
I bought a new Trans Am in 74 and installed a set of Wire Mags (15x7s front & 15x8s in back) on it right after buying it. I'll have to look around as I have some pics of them on my TA and some pics of them on some local Corvettes in the 70s too.

The rims have Appliance written on the back of the hub so they are in fact made by the company of the same name. They are called Modular Wire Mag They are exactly as you describe them but they have a spinner in the center. That add says its 1979 so your years maybe off. Thanks.
