I am having a 1978 delivered this next week. The guy claims it is the silver anniversay edition. but he painted it and had some body work done. How can I tell if it is the real deal?
Trim tag will show 13/07 for the paint code. All SAs had sport mirrors, tape stripes, and aluminium wheels as part of the B2Z options package. Interior could be any of the standard 78 colors.
A question for you: why would an SA owner repaint the car in a color other than the two toned silver?
Only reason I can think of is cost, even a cheap paint job will cost more if there are multiple colors being applied. Of course its possible the owner didnt appreciate the color combo, but given that the only thing a SA has over any other base model vette is that special color combo that would seem to be short sighted.

Good answer there.
As for an SA owner repainting one differently, IMHO SA's aren't rare by any stretch of the imagination and I can think of a number of other colors and/or schemes I'd much prefer after looking at mine for nearly 30 years.
FWIW, changed mine from auto to manual, among other mods...
