It's been even longer than 10 years for me!! However, I seem to recall that the center weight had one side with "rounded" edges, and one side that were "sharp" as if the part was stamped in a die. I always thought that the rounded edges signified the "top" side.
Along that line, where did you source the kit? The last one I installed was in a '77 Pontiac Trans Am that I owned from '76-'01. A couple of years before I sold the car, I got a curve kit from 'Bob Jennings Dyno-Tune' in California. Suposedly, his kits had curves that were designed a little differently, in accomodation of lower compression ratios and smog regs. They were also the only kits I ever saw that had a different center weight, rather than just the outer weights and springs.
i got it from summit. i also got an adjustible vac advance.
i had the flat side down and it didn't look right. the weights will only go 1 way. if you flip them they won't clear the center weight no matter which way it is.
I also had a 77 black Trans Am, then a 79 and then an 80.
Yeah, mine was black too! 400 Pontiac engine with a 4 speed. No bird on the hood, and I spent the first Saturday I had the car peeling all the decals off of it, as I like "sleepers".....
