Default Birthday Calculator

Last weekend I ran into a 1965 Vette owner at a car show who shared the following birthday calculator: http://www.stl-vettes.com/65Vette/Bday.asp

I tried it for http://www.stl-vettes.com/69Vette/Bday.asp and it does not work.

The '65 owner was able to determine when his car was produced, the approximate time it was produced, the day of the week it was produced, and other interesting facts about his car. I believe he got all this information from just typing in his VIN number, or maybe just the last 6 digits of his VIN.

Does anyone know of a birthday calculator for a 1969 Vettes?

Sure, just read the trim tag date in the door jamb, then add a day or two. Much more accurate than a reverse engineered guess which is what the calculators are.

I downloaded one for my iPhone that has been very accurate or at least it came up with the same date I did when I added a day to my trim tag date.

Where my trim tag says E13 the calculator came up with December 14, 1971.

Of course, I have had at least one person who is positive his car was built on the date his trim tag says so he did not believe the date the calculator gave for his car.

'69 production started in Sept '68, so that's the month that starts with an "A" on the trim tag & ended in Dec '69, which would be an "O". The number next to it is the day it was built....or so as some say.....

In my case on know mine was built, or completed on the 29th like the trim tag says. My salesman called me on April 30th, a friday, and told me it had been built the day before and that it was on a train heading north to Omaha from St. Louis....

The calculator is wrong. My '68 is I20; the calculator showed I19. Apparently the folks putting the calculator together did not take in to account the assembly line was up and running on Saturdays.

I agree with Mike; use your Time/Build code and make your own calculations. Here's the perpetual calendar I use. http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/index.html

Here ya go, SEVNT6:

This is possible if your car was first in line at the beginning of the work day and there was two shifts running at top speed. For the rest of us mere mortals, the cars were finished the next day or possibly two days later. I have an original Canadian delivered car (meaning full factory documentation) and this shows a two day delay between trim tag and completion.

Here's an educated hypothetical: Your car may have come out of paint and started down the assembly line on the 28th. It was partially assembled by midnight on the 28th when the second shift ended, but had not yet passed the station on the line where the trim tag was attached. 6:00 a.m. on the 29th, first shift began, your car gets her Time/Build code dated the 29th, and could have been finshed by midnight that day.

She shipped on the 30th; you're dealer got the call, and he called you. Just curious, were you able to pick up the car on the 30th? Saturday morning seems more likely.

Really enjoying the information and sharing - thanks all,

I bought "The Ultimate Encyclopedia of the Corvette" by Peter Henshaw. According to information in the book, 1969 production started September 1968. He does note state the day 1969 production started. He says the St. Louis plant was running 3-shifts. He does not state when they went to 3 shifts or how many months they ran 3-shifts. He also states the plant went on strike for 2 months. He does state what months the strike occurred. And, that prodution was suppose to conclude in December of 1969 but was extended to February of 1970 due to the strike. I cold only guess that the plant went to 3-shifts of operation, and ran Saturdays, to make up for the lost production from the 2-month strike. Don't know and may never know for sure.

It does throw some twists into trying to figure out birthdays and other (estimated) facts regarding 1969 Vette production.

First off Mike.........Great Pic!!.... I thought mine was #2 on the bottom row until I saw those chrome bumpers....

As far as the delivery went.........you won't believe this. When I spoke with the salesman on that Friday he said I would be able to pick her up on Monday, May 3rd, & he would call me that day to let me know when. When I got home from work that day & my Mom told me no one had ever called I kinda freaked. Keep in mind that I was an 18 year old kid who had already waited almost four months from the time of order.....Man was I ready!! So I call Cliff to see WTF & he tells me......YOUR VETTE IS LOST!.....but don't worry. "You see son, I've been selling Chevrolets for over 30 years & I've seen this happen before". He went on to tell me that it was probably sitting on a "side rail" somewhere......

It was early evening....on the 5th!!....when he called back & said it had just showed up, and I could pick her up the next day...

Also.....I agree with the "Mikes"... I never knew anything about the timelines on our cars until I joined the Forum. When I learned about the delay some had but knew mine was different, I just figured my Vette must of been #1 in line on the 28th....
