according to my Black Book, LS6 was a 454 with 425hp and was offered in 1971 and there were 188 cars built with that option it cost $1221.00.There were 130 M22 4 speeds available, 8 of those went into the 8 ZR1's produced and 12 more M22's went into the ZR2's that were produced. So that leaves 110 M22's( I think most went into the LS6's but I don't know for sure.
Hope that helps

Thanks Roy I had all that info and I know they made a few Auto LS6 cars too. You could get an M21 with the LS6 so I was trying to find the exact numbers of how many Coupes came with a M22. I had heard the figure some time ago just can't remember it. Thanks for the effort.

Not a guru of any sort, but from what info I've got, the 71 RPO LS6 was available with the following combinations:
Turbo Hydra-matic with 3.08:1 (std) or 3.36:1
M21 with 3.08:1, 3.36:1 (std) or 3.55:1
M22 with 3.08:1, 3.36:1 (std) or 3.55:1, and special 3.70:1 or 4.11:1 ratios
No info on how many of which, but none came with AC.
Hope that helps.

where is that guru when you need him? There's another one around here somewhere. I learned at the NCRS national that LS6 have a fuel return line, unlike every other Holley carbureted C-3 that I can think of. Got to look at 2 of em.
122 of the 130 M22 transmissions were installed in the 1971 LS6 ordered cars. The breakdown that we are unsure of is between the M21 ordered cars and the special high shift Turbo 400 transmissions.
Approximately 34 to 36 LS6 engines were coded for automatic transmission usage. We currently have 16 M21 ordered LS6 Corvettes located so far.
It's not confirmed yet, but it appears that all the M21 transmission LS6's did not come with the MA6 heavy duty clutch, all M22 transmission LS6 did have this clutch assembly.
