Anyone have pictures of a C-3 that is two toned? I have not driven my Vette in years for two reasons' First, it handled like a broken shopping cart and second, if was all white and I felt like Susann Summers in American Graffiti.
I fixed the cracked a-frame mount and replaced the three bad ball joints and even the one good one along with new bushings, tie rods idler arm and rebuilt the steering box, New shocks and springs all round wiped out most of my budget. No money to have it repainted back to it;s original yellow.
Even though I am not a fan of paint jobs other then stock colors, I am considering two toning the hood and fender tops. Almost like a very wide stripe the width to the headlight doors. If anyone could post a few pics of their two tone paint jobs I would greatly appreciate it.
Well, here is a picture of my '82 with it's original 2 tone paint. May not be what you were looking for but I never pass up an opportunity to post pictures of my ol' Gal!
I'm not sure this is what you're looking for but take a look. http://www.zl1racing.ch/index.php?lg...ijon%20Prenois Click on the thumb nails to enlarge the pictures. The 3rd one from the left you may find helpfull.

If it were me, I would save the money it will cost for that idea until I could afford to have the whole thing painted...back to it's original yellow. Just my $.02, which is worth just that much.

It's your car so do what you like, but that paint scheme just kind of upsets the natural beauty of the C3 body imo. If you really like it go ahead and do it because you'll be happier, but consider the 80s C3 Bowling Green / Pace Car two tone style as well.
And mostly on-topic, there should be an enforced rule that if you're going to put stripes on a C3, you end them at the end of the hood, not the end of the nose
But most importantly, do whatever you need to do to get yourself driving it!
Here's my original '81. Not sure if this is what you are looking for either, but this is the way they came from BG in 1981. Silver over Blue.Plus a couple of other combinations.
The pics from last summer is what I was thinking. I would do mine with it a little narrower and keep it the width of the windshield and end it a little sooner so it just starts to go onto the front bumper.
You did three things I don't like on a Vette, Square headlights, two tone that is not factory and body kit. The result is a very good looking car in my opinion. I will be doing mine along the lines of my poorly enhanced photo. It's only paint and can be fixed easily.
Since we are both from NJ we can go to an NCRS Meet together. I think they would give us the boot. especially when they see my '74 with the Z06 style hood scoop I'm making and modified front bumper.
im an ncrs member, not correctly restored stingray(i know im not really a stingray, but it works). All I know is that when I brought up the idea of doing this paint job a lot of people on this forum told me I was crazy, but Im damn happy with the results
p.s. wheres the scoop gonna be on the hood?
NOT! OMG.. if we are being "real" and "completely honest"... that grey hood white body red stripe is an atrocity. I'd rather see you do a chip foose and run a stripe or fade down the side if you MUST do something different to scratch this itch. Quite frankly, an original color nice clean crisp paint job would be the BEST investment.
