Has anyone bought a new dash pad from one the vendors? I need to replace the left lower dash pad in my 74 and want to know who has a good one. Some of the after market falls short these seem to run right around 300.00.
I bought one from Corvette America a couple years ago. I'm getting close to putting it in. The quality looks good and I don't see any obvious flaws or fit issues, but I don't have it installed to be able to tell you how well it fits.
Be patient and make the purchase when there is a sale ad the (whatever vendor) offers a break on shipping. These cost quite a bit to ship.
Corvette America is the big supplier of aftermarket Corvette interior parts. You just may find that, no matter where you purchase it, chances are you will receive a CA lower left dash pad produced in China.
The fit of these aftermarket parts is many times not what we would like, but, with +/- 40 yr. old cars, remains the best option. IMO the LL dash is among the toughest pieces to fit, since one must re-attach cables, headlight switch, dash lights, etc. while manuevering this $&*#@ LL dash piece into place. You will need to remove or at least lower (carefully) your steering column.
I saw the other night on here a thread where someone takes the driver's seat out to ensure the fit from below. Good luck. For inspiration, check out Oldsarge's thread on C3 General to see how good a restored C3 red interior can look.
Mine came from ZIP Products nearly 25 years ago. Not sure who made it for them, but seem to remember it was in an EC Products box. No problems with fit, but they made things differently in those days.
I love Zip Products. They have been extremely helpful to me. However, I am confident that many interior pieces ordered today from Zip are supplied by Corvette America.
It is just too expensive for each Corvette parts supplier to manufacture their own. It would translate to even higher prices for us.

Yes, many interior items we sell are from them, and many are not. We all have our competitive advantages. We sell a lot of things we make to our competitors and vice versa. One thing we do not buy from anyone else is our #1 product: Our Customer Service.
A lot of good feed back. The car is in pieces as I just finished putting it back to a manual transmissing (someone along the way pulled the 4 speed and put in an automatic) I'm also in the process of installing new dash, window, front lamp and engin harnesses (same guy trashed the electrical being creative) And thanks for the tip on shipping cost, thats one that always gets me. I'll check out C A and Zip and see what they have to offer.
Hey ZIP, what kind of deal you got going?
For restorations if you order over $800 in merchandise you will receive 10% off. So if you buy an interior package (door panels, seat covers, carpet) you will qualify for that.
Order over $2000 and you will get 10% off plus you will be a VIP for a year and get 10% off every order you place over $50.
The other sale we have running right now is 10% off all carpet, floor mats, underlayment & heat barriers.
I have purchased door trims, T Top headliner pads and an upper dash pad from Willcox corvette, without any problems.
Thanks, the Willcox guys always have forum specials, they hooked me up with the new harnesses. I'll check them out, I bet they have the other guys beat.
