I have a 79 that I've bled the brakes twice in the past month without success. The pedal returned to the floor a few days later. I don't see any fluid leaking and thought we did a proper bleed. In a related discussion, a man who is a corvette collector, mechanic, related that a bad wheel bearing could ingress air into the system. My left rear wheel has a significant amount of play (as much as a 1/2 inch). Anyone have experience with a wheel bearing causing air in the brake system? If so, I guess the bearing needs to be replaced before I get the brakes airfree. That might be beyond my ability! Thanks!
Its not actually the bearing, but the caliper pumping air into the system because the rotor is wobbling, thats "Runout"
If you have 1/2" in the wheel, stop driving immediately as the wheel is about to fall off.
Once you have the bearings sorted out (thats a whole topic all by itself) then you will need to check/correct the rotor runout. While its apart the lip seals on the caliper may need to be replaced, they wear fast with excessive runout
