Ok I have been having a problem lately with my battery draining quick and recently replaced the alternator about 4 months ago. Now still my battery drains quick just got another new one today free replacement but the wire gets really hot and it melted my accessories plug in the battery box. What could be my problem need thicker gauge wire?
The battery is draining because it is either not getting charged as you drive, or something is on when the engine is turned off, pretty much the only 2 conditions.
The melting wire is a dead clue that your pulling way to much current thru that wire, either a proper load, or a failed component somewhere. Disconnect all the accesory stuff back there, then go thru the normal troubleshooting to determine what is on with the key off. You should have about 100 Miliamps or less discharge current with everything off, thats point 1 amp.
