AWW means corvette axle manufactured in Warren, and is a 3.08, day 315 of the year it was built, E = eaton posi unit, 2 = 2nd shift built..
don't know the year, my book shows a AW code used in 69, 71, 73 and 75. the cast date should be cast on the pumpkin itself. there should also be a pumpkin casting number cast on it also..
It is a automatic and somehow its a bit strange because acording to my vin number - 1Z37K2S507838 -its a 1972 produced in november 71 and acording to my engine code then engine is made in november 71 and it has a rear axel from 71 day 315 = start november, which not was used for the 72's.
I do think its original cause car is more or less untoched.
My NCRS Specifications Guide does not list the AW 3.08:1 ratio for the 72 model year, but I'm fairly certain that's on oversight in the guide. 3.08:1 was the standard AT ratio and was almost certainly available for the 72 model year.
