I went with the leather like as well. I haven't installed mine yet but the quality looks great. To me, it's more like vinyl then leather. The true vinyl covers are more stiff from what they showed me at the car show so the leather-like is just a more supple grade of vinyl. You know, a lot of cars back then had vinyl and if you want to stay original and place youself back in the era, then leather-like is a good choice. For me, I saved a few bucks by going leather like (which matched the vinyl that was on my car) and with the saved money I spent the extra for new covers already mounted on new foam. One less job to do.

Good luck,

Mark G

I had vinyl with my first seats, looked pretty good and I thought it felt good too, held up ok, but the colored part would scrape away in small areas exposing a white liner underneath, but still a good option for the price. When I put my new seats in I did all real leather, huge difference, look is similar, but feel and comfort and wear is no comparison, leather is far superior if you can put out the bucks, if on a budget the leather like will do with not a big loss of look or durability, just mainly the feel and softness.
Here are my old seats with vinyl covers....

Here are my new seats with all leather....

Both look good, but im glad i went leather the 2nd time around.

I think I bought the deluxe leather seat skins from mamotorworks....they are very nice! Much better than those vinyl ones from '68 lol.

when i bought my vette the previous owner had redone the interior. the seats look great, and even thought it could convincingly pass for black leather i have the feeling it's 'leather-like'. specifically, the seats make my back sweat quickly in even mildly-warm temps. i'm guessing it's because vinyl is not porous so it doesn't "breathe" while leather does.

anyone else gets sweaty back in leather-like seats? what about in real leather seats?

I can't remember if the deluxe leather ones from Mid America are leather or leather-like, but they make my back sweat....although it WAS while driving around in mid June with the top down, in SC..

I used the leather like in my 68 roadster. They fit well and were pretty cheap. You will probably be happy with them. Having said that, if I had it to do over again I would have used the original vinyl covers. As I get older, I tend to more appreciate origionality...

Look at it this way... buy leather get seat covers. Buy vinyl get seat covers, a carpet set and a new e-brake cover for the same money. Cloth seats pill, wrinkle and fade quickly. Not recommended in a vert.

This may be a silly question, but what does your trim tag say?

I the car is coded for leather, then buy leather.
If its coded vinyl, upgrade!
