Well I don't know if I am stupid or blind or both! But I cannot seem to find a date code on my tires. I have Goodyear Eagle GTII. This is the closed thing to an identification number I can find, but I can't decipher it.
My tyres ( Radial T/A's) did not have the words "DOT" on them because they were so old, this code was inside a elongated circle "BEVE 4CI 412" , this means my tyres were made on the 41st week of 1982
If there was a Triangle after the code it would have been 1992.
All tires made in 1968 or later for the US market have a DOT marking on them. Keep looking.
BUT - A lot of tires make it here that were not made for the US market which is a big part of the problem.
I bought Radial TA's a few years ago that I thought were a great deal and when I had one off the car a few weeks later on the inside of the tire it was stamped "BLEM." With further research it showed they were supposed to be sold in South America. Go Figure how they ended up here. The tire place took them back and got me "real" ones.
Well it turns out I am not blind, but I am stupid! The code was on the inside wall of the tire and I didn't even think to look there! My tires were made in the 17th week of 1999 so I think it might be time for some new ones!
