I got very excited when I picked up the '74. All original, totally unmolested! I figured cool! No hassles of un-mickey-mousing others "upgrades". Just a nice easy fun resto. HAH! Every nut, bolt, scew, fastener, etc has been untouched since factory installed 34 years ago. Every nut, bolt, screw, fastener wants to fight leaving its long term home. What a pain! The '56 I finished last year was so much easier! Only had maybe 2 or 3 fasteners on the entire resto give me grief. She is fighting me hard, but maybe when she realizes that I only have good intentions she will not fight me so hard. Oh well. Every busted knuckle, scrape, drop of blood draws us closer I guess.......
Welcome to the forum. I see you're close by. I'm in Oakland, and I also have a '74 L82 which is, well was, "Unmolested." I let the nuts and bolts soak with PB Blast over night or for a couple of days and they usually come off pretty easily. So far, the master cylinder's nuts were the ones that put up a good fight. They were stuck on there pretty good. Pics???
