I am new to the C3 world having just purchased a 1980 and working on it. Not real sure what is correct and what needs correcting.
One question about seats: the passenger seat folds /pivots at the midsection/top half, while the drivers seat does not fold forward? Is this normal?

No, both seats should fold the same, but it's a common problem. The seats have a ratchet mechanism that keeps them from flopping forward under braking. Sometimes the mechanism sticks or hangs up. I've had my 81 since new and I've had this happen to my passenger seat periodically over the years.
The ratching mechanism is in the outer hinge, the one nearest the door. You can release it by inserting a long thin screw driver into the gap in the lower section of the hinge. I keep a screw driver in the car for when the seat locks up. If I get a chance, I'll post a picture of how to release it in the morning.
