Well I can answer question number one. Metal floors started in the middle of the 1976 production year. Also known as late 76.

As garage-ghost said, the sheet metal floors were added in 76, and they were used through 82.

The 2" and 4" bolsters can be found in any 79-82, I believe. If I remember correctly, GM's supplier was having trouble producing enough seats, so GM contracted with a second supplier. Apparently one supplier did the cushions with 2" bolsters and one company did them as 4 inchers.

I'm sure your convertible conversion has an 80 title, VIN and trim tag because it started life as an 80 coupe. It was pretty common to do a convertible conversions, using a rear clip from a wrecked convertible donor car. If yours does have a fiberglass floor, I would guess that whoever did the conversion, used a complete 74-75 rear clip, from the cowl back.

Early 75's had glass with a small steel pass side insert, but most had steel largely because of the introduction of the cats.

I could be wrong but I can't see GM going back to a fiberglass floor because of the heat from the catalytic converter.

I don't remember the years, but they did go back to glass floors, but later than 81. The present models have a glass sandwiched balsa wood floor.

It's common to have the rusty metal floors in C3's covered in glass for repair. Works very well.

Default Info on one data point

My 76 was built in Oct 75 and has metal floors.

Of course now since I had holes rusted through (and wife had no enthusiasm for watching the pavement go by), I fiberglassed over the metal.

Yes its a vert conversion
Is it possible that the conversion was built using two cars? Perhaps there was registration papers for the '80 and none for the other car so it was registered as an '80. Can you check and see what VIN is on the frame rail?

Look again. Your floor pans should be metal. Do the magnet trick.

Default Interior Quarter Trim Panels

Help? I'm in the finishing stages of my 75 vette 7 year frame off project. I had to replace both original interior quarter trim panels with a set I got off ebay. The ebay set is really nice and from the the same year yet, I am going crazy trying to get them to fit around the rear window trim molding.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I don't know why people ignore the obvious. Post cat-con was metal.
