I usually hang out in the C2 forum and not that familar with the C3's. Last week-end I had the 67 at a car show and a guy came up and said he was told an engine he has is out of a 69 Corvette. Just thought if it is and the 69 is still around the owner would probably want the engine if he could get it. Below is the e-mail I received:
Dave , I finally got some numbers off of the block that I think is out of a Corvette, 1969. The numbers are 19J300650. Also V0710F2 . These were stamped on the front of the block on the head surface. I have the block in the machine shop having it cleaned and cam bearings and freeze plugs pushed out. I know the heads are double hump with a casting # of 462. Thanks Rolland
Hopefully if this is a Corvette engine we can hook it up with the owner. Shooter
That's not a Corvette VIN derivative. 1969 Corvettes are stamped 19S7xxxxx.
I think the J is the plant code for Janesville, Ohio.
V Flint, Michigan engine assembly plant
0710 engine assembled July 10th
F2 Engine suffix code.
No F2 in my book, but FZ is listed for a 1969 327 passenger car.
Mike, I know the 67's had the "S" in the VIN and thought it was for St. Louis so I assumed all the Corvettes made in St. Louis had that but wanted to double check with someone to be sure. I am also going to check again with the guy that he got the numbers right. He was pretty sure it came out of a Corvette but like you verified the numbers don't match up. I don't know him personally but he just came up looking at my 67 at the car show. Thanks for the info Mike. Shooter
PS The "F2" kind of threw me also. I was thinking Corvettes had a two letter engine code not a letter and number.

Correct. S is the plant code for St. Louis, Missouri. Home of all Corvettes 54-80 and most 81s.
i see no F2 designation.. if it is a FZ, it is a 1969 327 passenger car/taxi engine, the car was built in Janesville Wis. i didn't know that the 327 still existed in 1969.. but according to the books, it did...
my book says 235 HP, so it is a wienie 2 barrell engine.. hardly a corvette engine. but of course is 41 years old, so there is no knowledge what is inside it.
it may have come out of a corvette, but it was put into the corvette replacing the original engine probably.
