I rebuilt the top end of my original tired 73 and put TPI from a '90 on it with a lot of help from the regional CF members about 6-7 yrs ago.
The car looks great, but I've been spending too much time with it out of action because my #1 cylinder is not compressing. Now the computer fried so it won't run at all. I don't want to do it half assed again.
It is a non-numbers matching car so I'm thinking new engine and while I am at it this winter replace the transmission with a 700R4.
I was looking at a ZZ4 or the RamJet 350 GMPP for the engine. I have the TPI harness in there, so either way I need a new harness.
The question is at this point am I better off staying computerized and getting a computer controlled transmission, or going back to carb?
I've asked around a lot locally and really can't decide which way to go.
Rebuilding is not an option, I want a turnkey motor... too much down time for the last few years.
I cant help you on your decision, but check these guys out they might be able to assist you with your questions. I have no experience with them, but came across their website when i was researching engine info. Their website is very well laid out and they are not to far from you. Just my $0.02
I would buy a new 1996-2000 Crate 350 longblock Vortec truck engine from GM and put your TPI on it. This is a roller cam engine. Made for fuel injection. Bolt a Vortec TPI intake to it and go. Pace has the engine listed for $1999. Good heads, roller cam, 1-pc seal. Should go 200,000 miles. No way I go back to a carb.
