I need to buy a new rear view mirror for my 81 vette. I ordered one from Corvette America, only problem is that the one I got was a phillips screw one that had a smaller mounting base than the metal piece glued to the windshield. The old cracked one it has has an allen screw with a silver swivel and black plastic mirror frame. Is this the original? If so which of the Corvette vendors sells a reproduction of this. Any help is appreciated. Just want the interior to look right.
Paragon,Corvette Central,and Mid-America all say they sell replacements. Which usually means they will work but are not correct.
Which one did you order from Corvette America? They have 2.
One says it is a reproduction;
2219 1976-1982 Inside Mirror. Stainless Steel Back Reproduction
See Note 1 EA $59.99
This is the other one;
X2602 1977-1982 Inside Mirror. Day/Night Black
See Note 6 EA $39.99
Thanks for a response, it was the second one. Anyway I called Rick at Corvette Center in Colorado Springs and he told me that the original should have an allen mounting set screw. I ended up calling Corvette Central's tech line and they told me that they had a replacement mirror that did have an allen set screw so I ordered it and hopefully it works, if not I'll just send it back. To be honest I bought the car to drive and enjoy, so sticking to everything 100% is not that important to me. As long as it fits right and looks nice I'll be psyched. I like the C-5 and C-6's for their technology and their look, but they still don't got the style or feel of a C-3. C-3's are just too cool!!
