So I need brake calipers, should I keep the stock non-Stainless Steel, and buy another set for replacements?
I should rebuild the the stockers but dont have time befor the local car show...
I am wondering about using my stock 72 as cores and regret'n it later and having some aftermarkets on the car. Since my car is all stock thinking I should somehow keep the stockers.
If I ever get it judged, how bad will aftermarket calipers dock on points? Big issue over nothing?
Never let go of stock parts that are serviceable. That is just my opinion. What if you decide that you truly want it bone stock again. You will have to find them and pay for the purchase. So you intially saved a core charge. But in the future what did you gain?

Depends on who does the judging. The NCRS will not make you pull a wheel to check casting numbers on calipers, but a judge might get on all fours to take a look. You have to remember, the NCRS is looking for correct factory appearance, not necessarily original parts.
Outwardly, you can't tell a sleeved caliper from a non-sleeved caliper unless the sleever stamps his company name on them.
If you are thinking of survivor status for your car, rebuild your original calipers.
When you have time send the stock calipers to me to be rebuilt. We can have them sleeved and rebuilt with lip-seal or oring seals. Call me if you have any questions.
