Just installed new cam with solids and have read a couple of post about making sure they are broken in properly. Other than setting the lash right what else do I need to worry about
On initial start up I always run the motor at 3000 RPM for 20 mins. That will get You through break in stage. Dump oil and put fresh oil and filter on go 500 miles to next oil change. Make sure oil has high zinc content. (read sticky at top, it should be in the tech section but not sure?) It has good info on oils for these set ups.

Broken in many a solid lifter cam. I try to keep the rpm between 2000 and 2500 rpm varying it often but never go below 2000 rpm. I also will remove the inner spring on a dual spring setup to lessen the load on the cam/lifter combo. If the spring is a single or light dual spring you probably do not have to do that. Run a good oil with plenty of zinc additive and it should live a long life.

^^^^^^What Gordon said I did mine last week and all is good so far.
BUT whatever you do, make sure you take the inner springs out or in 20 minutes you might see your oil pressure drop to near zero and you will be looking to get some machine work done.......
