I DESPERATELY need a set of spare wheels to mount tires on for track use.. tired of having to pussyfoot around in second or third gear to keep traction.
So the question is - What will fit? I want something cheap. They can be as ugly as sin, I dont care. I just want a 17x8 or larger. So are there any wheels off any other cars (C4, Fbody, other?) that would fit with minimal issues? Or any very cheap after market/used wheels anyone knows of? I dont care if they are curbrashed to hell and back... I just need something to mount rubber on for track day.
How about a set of early C5 'wagon wheels"? I see them on craigslist for as little as $175 for the set because nobody likes them I guess. You will need spacers, so that will add to the cost.

good suggestion, but i would think a steel wheel might be a bit stronger for track use. i would think once you figure out what will work, the local salvage yard would be your best bet price wise.

Thats exactly what I want - just something I can grab at a salvage. I just need to know what will fit.
Do the C5 wheels fit? What size spacer has to be used? What about Fbody wheels? I see those all the time on CL

I'd think twice about using wheels with spacers at the track. I agree that a good set of steel wheels would be better but sorry, can't give you any suggestions as to which ones. Maybe if you take the bolt pattern/stud measurements to a slavage yard, they could round up a pair that would fit nicely.

3rd and 4th gen F-body wheels fit, but the aluminim ones have different offsets front and rear. I have 16" all-fronts on my car. Rears needed spacers to work.
SLP is selling sets of these for $550 and they are the correct offset for C3 Corvettes. Wheels, Painted ''Hyper Black'' 17 x 8, ZR1 (set of 4) http://www.lmperformance.com/4129/7.html
They were selling these sets at Carlisle for just under $500. They're very nice looking wheels and should be plenty strong for track use. Ask them if they'll honor the Carlisle price, it's worth a try. No worry's about spacers or changing to longer studs, just mount some good tires and bolt them on. These wheels also fit 1973-1988 G-Bodies, 1966-1972 A-Bodies, 1968-1982 Corvettes, and late-model "S" Trucks (2WD only).

So 3rd and 4th gen F body fronts fit without a spacer on both the front and rear of the C3?
Just wanting to make sure.
