Default Quick tranny question...

I have a 1976 L48 that I am buying a new transmission for. I sold the one that came with the car a while back. I am simply trying to find out which tailshaft came with the car. It of course had the automatic Turbo 350 transmission and I am almost positive that it had the 6" short shaft, but before I spend money on a performace tranny, I wanted to be sure. Unfortunately, I got my car without a driveshaft, so I am going to have to buy one of those also. I planned on buying a standard driveshaft for that year and model, so again, I want to make sure everything fits right. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

350's cam with 3 different tailshafts- one for 4x4's that was really short, the standard shaft (rear housing is about 6 inches long) and a real long one they used in some pickups- that one is 12 or 14 inches. (that one is sort of rare- )

Thanks a lot for the replies. I ordered my transmission and it came in; however, they did not include the tail shaft housing... I wish they would have told me that... Anyhow, can someone verify that this is a standard housing for a plain TH350. My only concern is the speedo cable? portion. Does it look like the right one? Again, thanks a lot!!!

There are also 2 variations based on big speedo driven gear and small driven gear. The one you show is a big gear. Most Chevrolets use the small gear. Really doesn't matter as long as you have all the parts.

Thanks a lot for the responses, guys. I just found a guy on eBay who has 10 of the 6" housings with the small speedo holes. $35 shipped. Not too bad...
