76 Stingray Exhaust Recommendations
Hi all, I'm looking to fix up the exhaust system on my 76 Vette.
Its basically a stock L48. I'd like to add some headers, mufflers and pipe. I'm not looking for any crazy just a little performance with a nice sound.
I live in Las Vegas and I'm also looking for a trustworthy exhaust shop to perform the service also.
Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

My first question would be is "what is the status of emissions testing in Las Vegas" Will you be installing a legal exhaust system or an illegal one.
If you are planning on staying legal then I would suggest the following:
If legality isnt high on your checklist then true duals by all means with an x-pipe or at the very least an h-pipe. running headers and mufflers of your choice.
If you are planning on staying legal then I would suggest the following:
- Shorty headers from a 81-84 corvette which has AIR tubing installed (assumes your car is so equipped, it isnt neccessarily so)
or - Hedman long tube headers #61308 (again with AIR)
(if your car is not equipped with AIR then you are free to choose any header you like) - A custom y-pipe fabricated from 2 1/2" pipe - the transition where the pipes merge should be a smooth merge and not a 90 degree intersection like the factory y-pipe
like so
It would also be beneficial if those two 2 1/2" pipes merged into a single 3" pipe. - the 3" pipe would go through a new hi-flow 3" catalytic convertor
- exit the convertor into another smooth merge y-pipe 3" to two 2 1/2" - the 2 1/2" pipes go to the mufflers.
like so - finally - connect to mufflers of your choice
If legality isnt high on your checklist then true duals by all means with an x-pipe or at the very least an h-pipe. running headers and mufflers of your choice.
