I know I am missing the two rubber lower air deflectors, but when looking at my pointed "spoiler", it appears loose - it moves up and down. There is a metal "L" shaped bracket above the center of this lower spoiler...is it supposed to be attached to this bracket in some fashion to secure it? There is a oval cut out in the front of the spoiler which gives me the impression something is attached to it?
Anybody know if I am missing a bracket or something? A picture of the correct connection possibly?
I installed a bracket on mine. I do not have the additional rubber edges either. No cooling problems at all. I made the bracket out of aluminum and painted black. Al
Should that metal "L" bracket be on top (like pictured) of the air deflector or under it? Mine is under it and mine would keep flipping up and getting stuck. I made a metal strap that uses the rubber deflectors bolt holes to hold it from going up.

The center of the lower valance originally rested on that metal strap. The 2 lower spoiler sections are notched where they meet at the center and that strap goes through the notches.
Your center support appears to be bent down and back, which is probably why the valance is below it now. This is very common, the support tended to hit and get bent on driveways and concrete parking bumpers all the time, and most 80-82's have some damage in this area.
Below is a picture of my 81 showing the placement of the valance and the spoilers. Mine is pushed back some from it's original position, and you can see the scrape marks on the bottom of the support from years of "abuse".
Makes sense from the pictures. So the spoiler is suppose to be supported by that "L" bracket.
I am guessing that with the car on level ground, the bottom of the spoiler should be parallel to the ground. So, the "L" bracket needs to be adjusted/bent in order to accomplish being parallel.
Thanks!
