Weatherstripping a '78
A couple months ago from a guy & son who were 2nd owners & had this car for 13 years tried to paint it & messed it up, and in a moment of frustration sold the car. Insert me.
So it looked pretty bad, runs & peel all over. Didn't want to drive it like that. So I've been cleaning/sanding for two months. Now I'm ready to spray. And I'm looking for weatherstripping for reassembly.
I've looked at several sites (Wilcox, Zip, Summit, etc), the kits seem similar - they do the doors, around the door window glass, & the T tops. I know there's got to be more than that. I need something around the back window. Looks like there's some kind of something that should go across the top of the radiator mount.
I've purchased an assembly manual, but I'm looking to fish from the pond of experience here instead of randomly leafing through that manual. It's been helpful for specific items, but in this case I don't know what I need to find.
If you had a stripped down '78 & wanted to weatherstrip it, what pieces would be on your list & where would be your first choice to look for them.
Put damplifier in the doors and on the floors while I was doing the interior and between that and tight weatherstripping it's a quieter ride (for a 32 year old plastic car).
I did not need to do the hood kit as mine was in pretty good shape, but I recall they were available.
If you have questions about a weatherstripping kit, call the vendor and get the details of what is included with the kit.
Price was actually better than some of the other "deals" too.
Melrose T Top can hook you up.

Or go direct to the manufacturer.

I started with a kit from Corvette Central and it fell apart with in a year.
The CRC stuff that I bought to replace the other kit was twice as good and less expensive. I give it a 10 out of 10.
The only brand weatherstrips we sell and the only set we install in our shop is CRC brand.
The CRC brand weatherstrips are US made and as mentioned above high quality!

There really is not that much as far as weatherstrips on your car aside from the roof (t-top) panels, door mains, hood ledge, and pillar weatherstrip. You'll find a rubber deflector at the front forward edge of the windshield but you might replace them 1 out of 400 times when a car is in the shop... They don't go bad very often at all.
