Hi all, just bought a 1976 vette L48 with some front damage. I will purchase full new front end and bumper. However, the steel front bumper reinforcement has also suffered some damage (bending) on the left side. Seen the weight of this thing, I was actually wondering whether the front end can be assembled without using this steel front bumper reinforcement. Also find it hard to get this replacement part. Please help!
I'm not sure you'd want to leave the actual bumper metal out of the car. It lines up quite a bit of the nose and holds much of the other various supports together. I currently have mine out of the car and the play with the sides and whatnot is amazing. Not to mention that is where your signal lights and grills mount.
You didn't share any pics but I'd imagine you could repair it. Lots of heat and even more muscle... if you aren't down for it go to a real auto body shop and ask them to quote you for getting it back in line.
Other options would be to find some salvaged parts. I'm not exactly in-the-know there but hopefully some other members can point you at some decent part houses.
