So it was such a nice day, I took the '75 out for a crusie. I was going to pick someone up, so I drove no longer than three minutes to sit in a parking lot to wait for them. I was waiting for about five minutes with the car off, Radio on key in accessories. All the sudden I notice a small amount of smoke rising up from between my windshield and dash, right behind the driver side speaker. Obviously alarmed, I opened the hood, saw nothing in that inspection, then I stuck my head down by the pedals to look up through, and saw nothing there. The door-open courtesy light was on, but that didn't appear to be smoking. I drove back and parked the car, opened the hood, and waited for the smoke to subside. I then tried turning on the radio on A/C, leaving the car on, directionals, everything to see if I could trigger the smoke again. I can't conclusively say that any of these tests were successful, so at this point I'm thinking that the smoke only happens when the car is running? Regardless, not to excited about the whole thing, any thoughts?
You can't really see the smoke here but this was the spot.

You said it happened while parked, key in accessory position, radio on.
Doesn't sound like a problem which appears when running since you indicate it wasn't running at the time you saw smoke.
The left speaker is in that area. Does it still sound OK? All dash lights still work? Any condensors under the dash which look cooked? L ong shot but I had one go on me, one in the alternator..
Read this and then pull your switch and have a look.
Hmmm, interesting read, I'm not sure that this is my situation however. I had it parked an the Key on AC (twisted counter clockwise) with the radio on. If it's in AC does that activate any of the lights?
I also had the ignition to ON, clockwise twist, after I got back home to see if that was it, and while again, none of my tests were definitive, I did not notice an increase in smoke with the ignition on.
Thank you for the info though, at least now I have something to look into and check it off of the list.
