hey guys,I decided to try and figure out what this motor actually is. the #T0730hc and below that the #7y192078 appears on the pad any help you can give would be apprieciated I have been told it was a 66 vette 327 but every 327 being sold is a vette motor? thank you.
T Tonawanda, New York engine facilty
0730 date engine was assembled at Tonawanda
HC suffix code for 65-68 327 250 or 275hp engines for passenger autos. Not a Corvette block.
...7y192078...
VIN derivitive of the vehicle the engine was originally installed in. I'm guessing 7 for 1967, Y for the plant code, and 192078 for the consecutive unit number.
My reference does not list a Y as a plant code. Are you sure it's a Y?
yes definetly a y, date code is G236 cast#3903352 I kept getting 65 0r 67 never 66 thought it would be good to know if I had another members eng he may like to have it back for his car.thank you
a july 23rd 1966 motor engine block casting date would probably work better for a early 67 vs a late 66 car.. if they started building the 67 model year in august/september 66
Y = chevy passenger car biscayne, belair, impalla or caprice and the HC is a 327/275 with a powerglide, again on a big chevy.
according to my book, it is a one year only casting.. not really a nothing motor..
thanks for all the info, this 327 was bored 60 11.5 to 1 compression with humpty hump cam and world products heads I have had this to 7500 rpm . it pulls pretty hard the guy spent a lot of bucks at a local machine shop and I picked it up for a 1000
