I am fairly new to corvettes i own a 69 hard top and have seen the long hoods witch gets rid of the wiper door but am unsure of what all is involved beside changing the hood and removing the wiper door any links or advice would be appriciated.
You will need an aftermarket hood designed specifically for this purpose and it should use the stock 69 hood hardware. If you use any 73-82 stock hood, the corners of the hood will not sit flush with the fender tops at the base of the windshield.
The assembly instruction manual (AIM) has diagrams of how the original hood, wiper door, and wiper door hardware was installed. They can be helpful when removing the items.
With the stock items off the car, it's a matter of installing and fitting your long hood.
The stock parts you remove from the car are valuable; do not junk them. Keep them if think you might return to the stock set up at some future date. If you decide you don't want them, there are folks restoring cars to stock who will buy your parts.

Don't take this as gospel, I asked a knowledgeable Corvette body man the same question and he said you have to massage the inner edges of the fenders to get the lines to match between the hood and fenders.

He is correct depending on the fit of the aftermarket hood. Some are of lesser quality than others. If you're patient and work at it, you may get an acceptable fit without having to tweak fender lines.

I put a long L88 style hood on my 69 and I am very happy with the look.
I bought the hood from Ecklers and the fit was good without alot of work.
I sold the wiper door, louvers, and machanics for more than I paid for the hood.
The purist will groan, the originalist will spit, and maybe my decendants will not get full value when they sell.......tough.
I don't understand the alure of the long hood. The wiper door closes off the car up to the windshield keeping a clean look. The long hood and later cars have a gap. I say fix the wiper door.

As the owner of a '73, I agree. The '68-'72 arrangement is much better looking.
