Thought I would share...
Now to the good part... Friday night I was meeting a couple guys from work at a little bar to have a couple drinks and what not. It has gotten a little cool down here in Texas so I thought what a perfect chance to drive the car. So on my first real drive in 8 years, all went smoothly. It didn't stall or anything. It was a little rough running at first, but after it warmed up, it ran smooth. Cranked up on command every time I tried. So I get the bar, a little early, so not too many peeps there yet. I park up front, between two cars not thinking anything about it. When I come out, there are two different cars next to me. On my right is an early 80s camaro, not the best, but still. On my left was a beautiful, perfect condition, convertible red with white interior GTO. I don't know what year it was, but it was certainly older and better than mine.
Not the car, but looked a lot like this one.

Anyways, my wife said I was a nerd, but I thought it was awesome that on my first drive in 8 years, I come out and the classics are flocked together.
Take care, and happy driving!
went for a drive on friday night came home on a flatbed

fixed the problem
(electrical issue) went back out on saturday night car ran great, top down, smooth country road not to many bugs.
Glad to hear the car is getting another chance at life on the road. I'm not 100% sure but the GTO looks like a 67.
I dont know what to think about the nerd comment but sure your wife will understand someday.
I am on the West side of Houston. The place we went was close to the house, so I thought it would be a good safe chance to get it on the road. I did not want to end up on a flatbed either. I am not completely confident in a long trip yet. Sunday I wanted to drive it to my softball games which are 30 minutes away, but i knew the wife and team would be really upset if we were stuck on the beltway waiting for a tow truck.
The 66 and 67 are very similiar.
The grill mesh is chrome X rather than plastic squares.
The fender GTO emblem at the bottom rather than lower fender.
The rear quarter is slanted more than a 66.
Those Pontiac Ralleys may not have been available in 66 (I'm not sure).
Great cars, those early Goats.
