I took the #'s down from my 77 motor. The front passenger side plate reads 0219 CLA. I know cla means L48 4 barr. What does the 0219 represent? Also on the drivers side rear of engine I see 3970010 on the bell housing, What does this stand for? My vin is 1Z37L75424324,Trim Tag reads 66 L paint and Trim 642, I know what they mean But there is also a #C25, What does this mean? My engine matches the vin # of the car. Thanks.

Are you sure that C is not a G? otherwise the trim tag was attached on 10/25/76 (C25) when the vin shows the car was built in Feb 1977 (G). Then it would appear it is the wrong trim plate.

...there should be a "V" designating Flint Engine Plant before that "0219" which would be Feb 19(of 1977). Opposite that 3970010 almost near the top, but towards the pass side will also be a casting date for example A217 for the engine block, which would be January 21, 1977.
