I did a search for installing headlights, didn't find what I need. Have a '78 that I purchased in pieces. I've got it painted and am reassembling. This is my first Corvette, so no experience to rely on, and unfortunately I didn't take it apart, so that makes it a little harder.
Having trouble fishing those headlight assemblies down into the hole so I can bolt them in. There's a hinge on each side, secured by three bolts. I'm wondering, will it help to remove one hinge from the assembly & bolt it into place, then try to lower the assembly down into the hole & guide the shaft into the hinge that's bolted on?
Also wondering, might need to take the headlamps out of the assembly before trying to install it?
I was being super cautious while trying last night, but wasn't seeing how this is going to slip together. Someone with experience might kickstart my learning curve.
Headlights install from underneath. Much easier than trying to go from the top side.
Do you have the assembly instruction manual (AIM) for 78? It will help. The AIM has diagrams of how the lights were assembled and installed at St. Louis.
Holy crap... you're kidding me? That never crossed my mind. Geeez... That'd be a lot safer for the new paint, too. I'll be glad to feel stupid for not thinking of this if it works.
