Default 81 window!

Hi all, I have a problem with the drivers side window on my vette! It goes down all the way but only goes up 3/4 and then it sounds as if the window motor is just barley scraping the regulator gear. I have the door panel apart and am wondering if the rivets holding the regulator arm in can be drilled out and replaced with nuts and bolts to allow for some adjustment or am i way off base here!

If the motor is running and the window is not going up. As stated its Probably killed the regulator gear. If it just stops and does not have the strength to go all the way up its possibly the regulator spring. Feel around the bottom of the door and see if the spring broke off....its common. You still need to get the regulator out to replace it though.

As for you question. To get the regular out you need to drill out all the rivits thathold it to the door and replace with nuts and bolts of the identical size. I would not hone out any of the rivits to create movement for adjustment. You do that and you will be looking for a new door. The fitting is precise. It will need to be precise to factory spec for you to adjust the window if you choose to replace the regulator.

Sorry for the delay on any response, I forgot i posted this and while searching for the same thing i ran into my original post, I apologize. I remember now that the info i got from this made sense and it was my regulator. 5 teeth are worn off. I've just pulled the window up manually the extra inch for now. Yesterday i pulled the door apart and removed the regulator and motor. the motor works fine but the regulator is a bit rusty and worn out teeth. I've looked at replacement regulator gears made of stainless but i'm wondering can i just replace that part and how easy it or am i looking at a whole new regulator mechanism? I know buying a new one would be easiest and possibly more economical depending what's involved. I should say it is twice as rusty as the passenger door. The passenger door window works fine. Has anybody just replaced the broken teeth and if so how? Thanks
