I believe the motor is offset to the RHS of the engin bay (Machanic informs me). My 79vette has been converted to RHD but the heat from the Rams Horns keep cooking my stearing box (Toyota). Has anyone heard of differant or custom made engin mounts to offset things to the left?

Tell us more about your steering box, moving the engine over slightly likely won't help. Many people have converted over to an integral PS box(Jeep) and have not heard of any issues with exhaust heat killing them,or ram's horns killing rear steer PS boxes on sixties GM products.

I will post some pics soon, The vette is currently getting the steering box rebuilt at the Mechanics. I only purchased the vette 1 month ago. (childhood dream to own one (in RHD)). It's also getting a new 2 1/2" exhaust system with new 2 1/2" rams horns. I should have it back next week.

Hi Causican

What type of 2.5" RamsHorns are you using - reproductions or original.

I have been after a set as well.

toyota box,s are good. turn faster than a ford one and are also smaller in actual size. if its that close then you might be best to use some header wrap where your headers pass by the box. alot of people say they rust your pipes but it takes years if at all and especially not in your climate. i would rather have some slight tarnish on my headers under the wrap then cooked steering box,s every 12 months.

RE: Rams Horns, I believe after market, purchased on e-bay in Australia. Cost $375 . Easy to find, just search "Rams Horns" in ebay.com.au. comes up in the top 4 listed. I believe there in SA. Good Trader. The quality is very good, in fact better then original which we just discovered, had a crack.

Yes, I test drove about 15-20 LHD Vetts in thier original form, but non turned as good as the Right hand converted with the Toyota box. There is less then 1/8" between Rams horns and Steering box, so packing is probably not going to happen. Looks at this stage dont concern me (Motor looks pretty standard).
