Lectric Limited - No Help

The short version is that they will not sell component parts of thier products. Nor will they in any way aid you in finding out where to get such things.I have 2 perfectly good battery cables. They will not sell new grommets. They will (of course) sell me a new complete battery cable set - that they make themselves.
But they will not sell the grommets, nor will they even tell me where the grommets come from so I can buy a pair on my own.
Ditto - fiber optics. They'll sell a rear FO harness for the big bucks. But they'll be damned if they'll tell me where I can get the bulk cable to do my own work. Nor will they sell 100' roll.Of course they have the right to run thier business thier own way.
But make no mistake: Going even one baby step to be "helpful" to a do-it-yourself type is not part of thier business model. Just because you can be that way... does not mean you should be that way.

Imagine someone expecting you to buy a whole new set of battery cables just to get 2 lousy grommets? In this economy? Ya... good luck with that.

WHY SHOULD THEY TELL YOU ANYTHING ????

WHILE YOUR AT IT..........ASK COCA COLA FOR THEIR INGREDIENTS
& COLONEL SANDERS FOR HIS SECERET RECEIPE !!!

I made it clear they had a right to "be this way". But remember, it wasn't just a matter of telling - it was a matter of selling.
They want to make you spend over $100 for battery cables, and to that end refuse to sell the grommets. They made a choice on the free market - and now we made ours.

From this point forward the grommet source will be public information.
I know that I'm personally going to make a point to make sure people know where to get them.
The free market cuts both ways.

YUP.............IN REPLY...... FOR ALL SILLY STATEMENTS !!!

If I were the company I would take it as an insult......it has nothing to do with helping you or not. It's just none of your business .....you should have just done the research as you did on your own.
Everything can be sourced givin the time & effort, in many cases it's not worth it, or in some cases you will be required to buy 5,000 of them or be forced to go to a distributor anyway.
Glad you got what you needed & saved money ........KUDOS, the entire world now knows where to buy grommets, thank you !!!

I have every right to note that this company is deliberately refusing to sell the grommets (that they posess) to us - in order to try to push the whole cable on us for need of said grommet.
I never said that this behavior wasn't within thier rights.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
They tried to say "can't" - and I made them say "won't".
Try it sometime. It's fun to make the "won't crowd" tell the truth when they try to hide behind "can't".

I too was surprised to see all the bits and pieces Loews sold.
How I found about Dormans wide variety. I bought a hydrobeast from VBP. My stock clevis, which you're supposed to use, wasn't long enough. The brake pedal wouldn't not rotate enough upward to engage the stop light switch. I called Hydroboost and asked for help. Actually there are two companies selling Hydroboost kits. Unfortunately, the one I contacted wasn't the one that supplied the Hydroboost kits to VBP. He told me to contact the other Hydroboost company. (They have almost exactly the same names.) No one would answer the phone. I called the first guy up, and even though he didn't supply my assembly, he told me to look in a Dorman's catalog, find their selection of clevis's and order a 3/8 inch clevis. I did and Bingo. A perfect fit. I perused the Dorman catalog and noted all their bits and pieces that otherwise would be difficult to find.
M&H is a competitor to Lectric Limited. They appear to be more flexible about making custom harnesses, but they also won't sell individual connectors either.
I needed some custom harnesses for my 68. I wanted to make them look like OEM harnesses. I chose Packard Electric as a source of connectors. It was expensive. For example if you want one 4 pin connector, you have to buy a bag perhaps eight of 8 male connector halves and a bag of 8 female connector halves. If you want a #14 connector pin, you have to buy a bag of 50. If you want a #18 connectror pin, you have to buy a bag of 40. (The bag content numbers are different.) And so on and on. An you have to buy crimpers, also expensive.
Many moons ago before the internet, body shops and repairs shops used to have fastener salesman come around on their route and sell mostly the Auveco fasteners etc. Check with a local body shop and see if they have or will order you parts. They will have the same problem though, quantity.
Or you can try an outfit like
http://www.thecliplink.com/
They have a link to the big catalog.
I'm surprised anyone even still made the oddball battery cable grommet. A bit pricey, but better than the complete cable.
Dorman is more into replacement small parts than fasteners, but their catalog is also huge.
Things like the radio plug did not have any of the notches cut in them so it would not plug into the radio.
I'll eat worms before I send another $1,200 to them for anything.
