When I bought my 1980 Vette, I found this tag in the glove box along with some more car documentation. It seems to have some original paint on it (Dark Claret)
However; the tag has a date of Oct 25, 1979 and I know my car was finished November 7, 1979
If anyone knows what this tag is, would be great to know.

Its a assembly line inspection tag, I found one in my 76 Stingray, and had to ask a local Hot Rod guy what the hell it was, he was older than dirt, has been building old school muscle for the better part of 50 years, he knew exactly what it was.

Ohh, so it seems to be a good piece of documentation...of some sort!
I found a similar one but it was torn , and also found a book of matches that read Mabels _HOREHOUSE , I'm thinking it's not from GM but maybe in ST LOUIS ! Ron
Its as much a good documentation as the quality control tag you some times find in clothing. Most of the time you cant trace them back to anything, so take it for what you will.
It's probably a manufacturer's tag, not from the assembly line. Everything going into a Corvette was supposed to have been inspected where it was manufactured (Quality Control). Everything got inspected again by plant personnel once the parts were received at St. Louis.
