Once I drop the spare tire carrier from the frame by taking out the 9/16s bolts how do I get this old lock off the f,ing bolt so I can replace it with a lock that I have a key for? Thanks you guys are great!
You might have to drill out the lock cylinder on the old spare tire lock. I would do that first before trying to drop the tub.
Have you tried turning the carrier bolt with the spare lock? It may not work, but if you can lengthen the slack on the bolt by turning the tire lock, you might be able to lift the tub off the bolt.

Before drilling anything have you tried the car keys that you have? what year corvette do you have. Normally the same key that opens the glove box behind the seats is the one that opens the spare tire lock. In my case it's the oval key. if you have that key maybe you can spray WD40 in the tire locks tumblers and try to gently use the key to free it up.
I just went out and did one 4 or 5 times using a dental pick to push in the button that holds the long bolt head in.
Since you have a new one I would imagine you could put the lock on an anvil and strike the side of the lock several times with the ball peen end of a hammer and break in 2.
I don't have a new one are you talking about pin on the side do you see it from top after off or bottom hem dustcover is off I don't understand any of your help

Sorry I thought you meant you had a new one with a key. I'll get you a pic tomorrow of the button inside you have to push to release it.

Nice pick tool Roger. Did you make that yourself? Also at the top of the second picture is that a master cylinder piston cylinder? I have a old M/C I thought I would try to repair some day instead of throwing it away. I think all it will need is a repair kit put in it.
