Sorry for the post here, but I tried on the paint forum. No replies.

I will have 5 days available starting next Friday. I want to strip my 68. I have read several post on this forum about this. I will delivering the car to the body shop and removing it there. I would like to save some labor and deliver it 90% stripped. I have a couple questions.

1-In your opinion is five day enough time?
2-Is there a water based stripper that can be used?
3-Should I use Air-Craft stripper and lacquer thinner?
4-What products (Brand Name) have you had the best results with?

I will use the correct face shield, gloves, mask, respirator, and coveralls. (Thanks Dub)

I had the original paint on my 69 and stripped it in a couple days. I did not use mineral spirits or their product to remove the paint. I applied the CitruStrip and waited an hour or so. I used a plastic scrapper that you use to apply filler to scoop the paint off - filled up 2 1/2 cottage cheese containers with Riverside Gold Paint!!! Then I used a spray bottle filled with water. I sprayed the area with water, then used green scotch brite pads to neutralize the CitruStrip and remove the remaining paint goo!

If you have more than one coat of paint - totally different story. It Will take longer.

5 days is enough time to disassemble the car, strip all the paint and do all the body work. (if the body isn't that bad) Maybe even get it back in primer.

I found four different color coats on top of my original Silverstone Silver. Sprinkled among those were assorted primers.
