C3 Corvette engine ID
Can someone tell me what the follwoing engine ID represents:
VD8100HT, VIN 16N597596
I am either going to rebuild or replace depending on what type of engine this is. I believe it is a camaro engine

The info off the block isn't ringing any bells. Usually the Engine code is Assembly Plant (V=Flint, MI), Month(MM), Day (DD), then code (2 digit for pre 1970). I know HT is a 69 Camaro Code. The 6 in the VIN isn't making any sense. The 1 = chevrolet. And the 2nd digit is the year. The first camaro was in 67, so that digit should be a 7,8, or 9. the N would = Norwood Ohio, and the assembly numbers started at 500,000 for 69. It follows suit for a 69...is the 6 a typo?
